Custom Models and Textures

August 1, 2009 New!

Here is an early alpha for my first genuine custom creature for Oblivion. It should seem familiar to pen and paper D&D players. :) I've taken some liberties to adapt it to the Oblivion setting. [Edit: Check out the Bolete's new project page!]

This is my first stab at a custom tileset. The meshes and collision were created in Blender. The textures are courtesy the Mesogea mod. I am also working on creating custom creatures, so stay tuned for developments in this area as well.

The following screenshot uses a stock texture, but a custom model created in Blender and finished in NifSkope. The collision mesh was created in Blender. This was my very first complete mesh, and it was a tremendous learning experience. You will notice that all of the edges are hard, there is no vertex shading, etc., but my goal in creating this model was to get a basic working mesh from Blender to Oblivion so that I could have a general understanding of the complete process. Expect future meshes to be a little more finished.

Many thanks to Mr. Siika for his excellent Blender tutorial and the fine folks at Wiki Books for their comprehensive tutorial Blender 3D: Noob to Pro.
